Our projects bring practical support, comfort and connection to older persons and the caregivers who walk alongside them. Each initiative turns care into action – creating meaningful solutions, strengthening community, and helping the elderly live with dignity, independence and purpose.
Groenkloof Academy: Growing Caregivers, strengthening communities
The Groenkloof Academy, operating in association with the Groenkloof Foundation, is a QCTO-accredited training provider committed to developing skilled, confident and compassionate caregivers. Through a combination of quality theoretical learning and supervised practical experience, students gain the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to support older persons, people living with disabilities and others who require care.
Practical training within the Groenkloof community includes exposure to frail care, assisted living and home-based care. This helps learners grow not only in competence, but also in empathy, professionalism and respect for the dignity of every person they serve.
The impact of this training reaches far beyond one qualification. A well-trained caregiver can improve quality of life, strengthen families and contribute to healthier, more caring communities.
Care Equipment Service
The Groenkloof Foundation has launched a vital initiative - the Care Equipment Service.
This project promotes the Foundation’s objective of supporting senior citizens to live with meaning and dignity.
The project aims to make essential medical equipment, such as hospital beds, wheelchairs, walkers etc., available to support the daily needs senior citizens and their caregivers. Accessible equipment can make a significant difference, promote independence and improve the quality of life for residents while easing the physical demands on carers.
By offering these resources, we are committed to fostering a safer, more comfortable environment for all. We warmly invite residents and the public to support this project – whether by donating equipment, making the Foundation aware of specific needs, or volunteering to source or maintain equipment or help manage the lending service.
Together, we can ensure that all residents have access to the support.

Spiritual Support Programme for Carers
The Spiritual Support Programme for Carers is built on a Christian foundation. The program features 17 short episodes covering a variety of themes, including ill health, good health, and ways to support others.
Initially designed to support the spiritual and mental wellbeing of caregivers at Groenkloof Retirement Village, the program’s value soon extended beyond Groenkloof when requests to share the material came from other institutions in South Africa and internationally.
In late 2024, the Groenkloof Foundation became the custodian of the program, and it is our pleasure to make it accessible online through the Foundation’s website.
